An arbitration tribunal has awarded offshore rig owner EnscoRowan $180 million in damages against South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries over a canceled rig contract tied to bribery allegations in Brazil. In 2016, prior to Ensco’s recently closed merger with Rowan, the company initiated the arbitration proceedings in London for losses incurred after its contract with Petrobras for drillship DS-5 was terminated.
