Students Take Fuel Efficiency to Extremes

The Shell Eco-Marathon opened its competition for high fuel efficiency vehicles to electric power for the first time this year and saw a full 25% of entrants opt for this energy source - 10 plug-in electric vehicles and six which ran on solar power. The inclusion of the electric-powered vehicles is a continuation of the ever-broadening fuels slate the Eco-Marathon has displayed in each of its five years, said Mark Singer, Shell’s global project manager for the Eco-Marathon.
