Japan’s crude imports plunged in April as refining runs tumbled in previous months when purchasing decisions were made for most of the oil. Run rates have fallen even more since, to an eye-wateringly low 56%. April crude imports into Japan, one of the world’s biggest crude importers, plunged by 363,000 b/d from March and by 274,000 b/d from April of 2019, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
