A trio of New York City pension funds have hired advisers to help them divest their holdings from fossil fuels, roughly two years after voting to sell their oil and gas company shares by 2023. The New York City Employees’ Retirement System (NYCERS), New York City Board of Education Retirement System (BERS) and New York City Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) have hired Meketa Investment Group to help design a process for divesting their fossil fuel stakes in the most efficient manner possible.
