Permian Gains Boost US Oil Rig Count: Baker Hughes

The number of active drilling rigs targeting oil in the US bounced to its highest point in over three months, according to data from oil-field services provider Baker Hughes, driven by more gains in the Permian Basin. Baker Hughes’ data show that the US oil rig count increased by six in the week ending Oct. 2 to a total of 189, marking both the biggest weekly uptick since mid- August and its highest point since mid-June.
