Shell Investors Reject Call for Firmer Climate Targets

Shareholders have rejected a motion calling for Royal Dutch Shell to set firmer targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with the goals of the Paris climate agreement. Shell’s board had described the resolution as “unnecessary and potentially counterproductive” in light of the steps it is already taking. The motion also called on Shell to support a transition to a net-zero emissions system.
