Oil and natural gas production growth in the US shale sector will become even more exclusive to the Permian Basin in March, according to estimates from the US Energy Administration, with output expected to decline in most other major unconventional plays. The EIA’s latest Drilling Productivity Report (DPR), which estimates oil production from major domestic shale regions based on the number of drilling rigs at work and their productivity, shows that oil production in the Permian of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico is likely to rise by about 39,000 barrels per day in March to around 4.85 million b/d.
