Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has indicated the govern- ment would proceed with an idea to merge PKN Orlen, a downstream-fo- cused oil firm, with the country’s vir- tual natural gas monopoly, PGNIG. “We will start the process of further integration of our champions,” the prime minister was quoted as saying last week while commenting on the EU’s approval of the merger between Orlen and Lotos, another downstream oil firm. “The next step is the takeover of PGNIG by PKN Orlen.”
