New super department store coalition mooted for Europe

A new European department store group made up of Karstadt, La Rinascente and printemps is in the offing. Essen-based German retailer Arcandor AG is behind the premium department store move. Peter Wolf, chairman of Karstadt, says this coalition could even mean representa-tives of each company occu-pying seats on the supervisory boards of Karsdadt and La Rinascente/PrintemDS.
