China’s regulation changes and domestic oversupply led some secondary aluminium scrap grades in the United States to decline on Thursday June 27, with market participants unsure about a bottom for the market. “Secondary aluminium prices are stable to down a penny, with some consumers now out to September for deliveries,” one US seller said. “I still don’t see a bottom on some items yet.” Fastmarkets AMM’s price assessment for non-ferrous auto shred (twitch) fell by a penny to 45-47 cents per lb on June 27, the lowest level since it was assessed at 45-46 cents per lb on April 7, 2009. The latest price also marked a drop of 14% from 53-54 cents per lb one month earlier and fell by 31.9% from 67-68 cents per lb at the same point last year.
