Widening import losses, production disruptions to push lead concentrate TCs higher, participants say

Wider losses on importing refined lead into China and persistent disruptions at smelting hubs in the country are set to support a recent uptrend in treatment charges (TCs) for lead concentrates, delegates attending China International Lead & Zinc Week 2019 in Kunming told Fastmarkets on Tuesday October 15. Fastmarkets’ assessment of the lead spot concentrate TC, high silver, cif China rose to $100-120 per tonne on September 27, its highest since September 2016 and almost double the August assessment of $50-80 per tonne.
