The most-actively traded May-delivery Comex copper contract settled at $2.1745 per lb on Wednesday April 1, down by 1.3% from $2.204 per lb one week earlier and off by 13.1% from $2.502 per lb on March 11. Despite a persistently low copper price, red metal scrap operations have not been hindered in the US, market participants told Fastmarkets.
