German’s lignite and coal phase-out plan will be drawn up beforethe end of 2018, and will include EUR1.5bn ($1.9bn) earmarked toalleviate the economic impact between 2018-2021, if coalitionplans come to fruition.Setting up the coalition government now depends on the resultsof a vote by the Social Democrat Party (SPD) due on 4 March. Avote against the plans could force acting chancellor Angela Merkelto form a minority government or call a new election.
