New Hope's quarterly production down 16% on year

Australian thermal coal miner, New Hope Corporation, produced 2.0 mt of saleable coal in August-October, down 16% year on year. Saleable coal production from the New Acland and Jeebropilly mines in Queensland was down 17% on the year to 1.12 mt from 1.35 mt due to planned mine sequencing and wet weather in October. At New Acland, in order to prolong the life of the current Stage 2 mining operation while waiting for approval of the Stage 3 expansion, the more challenging areas were being mined, including partially mined old underground workings.
