Tata steel sees weak global steel demand

Tata Steel Group said in its latest financial results it expects global steel demand to remain weak into the future due to the current economic slowdown and increasing trade barriers. However, the company forecasts India’s domestic steel demand to improve in the second half of the Indian financial year to 31 March 2020 with the end of the monsoon, an increase in government spending and improved liquidity. Tata Steel CEO and managing director T.V. Narendran said domestic steel prices would improve with an improvement in demand and sentiment.
