Cape rates on Asian routes have moved up this week with an increase of iron ore exports from Western Australia. The demand for other vessel types has remained steady over the past week. The voyage chartering rate for Capes traveling from Newcastle to South China stood at $10.60/t, jumping from $9.80/t the week before. Panamax rates for the Newcastle to South China route were assessed at $12.25/t this week, remaining the same as a week ago.
