Vietnam’s coal-fired plant pipeline stalls; risk of power shortages

Vietnam is facing delays in the completion of several significant coal- fired power plants originally due for commissioning this year, a setback that could tip the country into power shortages in 2021-2025. Close to a dozen projects have stalled, including the 1.2 GW Song Hau 1, the 1.2 GW Thai Binh 2 and 1.2 GW Long Phu 1, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) told local media.
