Vietnam July coal imports down 30% from June, up 9% on year

Coal imports into Vietnam fell by 30% on the month in July to 4.39 mt from 6.30 mt in June, data from the country’s General Statistics Oice show. The weaker performance in July marked a contrast to robust import volumes across the second quarter of 2020. On a year on year basis, however, Vietnam’s coal imports in July rose 9% from 4.03 mt. For the first seven months of 2020, Vietnam imported 35.61 mt of coal, up 43.5% from 24.81 mt in January-July 2019.
