Further depreciation of the rupee against the dollar this week placed additional pressure on Indian MOP importers’ margins. The rupee dipped below INR 68 to the dollar earlier this week before bouncing back slightly. Importers are now waiting for a 2018/19 contract-price settlement with producers before attempting to increase the maximum retail price to improve margins.
