Sulphuric acid prices broadly remained firm as availability remained tight, though there were indications that the strong Chilean demand of recent weeks was slowing as buyers met their requirements. Although most sources continued to peg prices in the $90s/mt CFR, many were doubtful that prices above $100/mt could still be achieved, and buyer price ideas were heard down in the $80s/mt. News of a shutdown at Codelco’s Potrerillos smelter may help renew demand.
