Ammonia buyers hold out for softer prices

Another extremely quiet week for ammonia trade as spot buyers refrain from making purchases in anticipation of softer prices. Most suppliers admit prices have reached their peak and are attempting to sell as much as they can before the supply picture changes substantially by the end of Q1, 2018. BASF/Yara’s new 750,000 mt/year ammonia plant at Freeport, Texas and the new PAU Sulawesi 660,000 my/year ammonia facility in Indonesia are expected to start commercial operations by late March.
