US New Orleans MOP prices increase

There was just enough activity in the US to support a modest increase in New Orleans granular MOP prices, which were up $5/st to $225-230/st FOB this week. As highlighted previously, higher barge prices were justified given the premium on returns to Brazil for FSU suppliers. Still, over the next few weeks US end-user purchases should be modest and prices are expected to remain flat. Buying will resume closer to the spring application window, when end users expect Canadian producers to try and achieve higher prices in Q1.
