Chinese sulphuric acid markets were relatively quiet this week, but prices in some regions finally began to climb after lagging behind consistent sulphur price increases over recent weeks. The higher sulphur prices have driven up costs for sulphur burners, and smelter acid sellers are now following increases where possible. The conclusion of environmental inspections in some regions has allowed increases of RMB 20-30/mt in acid prices, as downstream industries return to production and consumption.
