Phosphate supply starts to feel Covid-19 impact

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic started to impact the global supply of phosphates outside China this week, with production outages reported in India, Jordan and Peru. India imposed a complete countrywide lockdown for 21 days starting March 25 and the reduced labour meant India’s DAP/NPK production slumped. Fertilizer Week understands that by March 26, Indian DAP/NPK production was running at no more than 15-20% of countrywide capacity with further shutdowns expected in the next week.
