A follow-up tender for urea to complement the May 7 MMTC purchases is expected to be issued this week or early next week for shipment through July 15-30 given the brisk sales in May. Sales of urea in India in May 2020 recorded to date by the Department of Fertilizers (DoF) via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) monitoring marginally above 1.7 Mt are now substantially ahead of those in the prior year, and are set to reach or exceed 1.9 Mt for the month.
