Mosaic expects to stop production at the first ever potash mine in Saskatchewan, Canada in a few months after 58 years of operating as output is accelerated at its replacement. The Esterhazy K1 mine, which opened in September 1962, is set to be ramped down and replaced by the new K3 mine around September, Mosaic said in a press release June 8. Esterhazy K1 has produced 285 Mt of potash since opening.
