Sulphuric acid sellers push for stronger 2021 prices

Sulphuric acid spot markets remained relatively quiet amid a lack of availability and limited demand, with most players focused on 2021 contract commitments. Market participants continued to disagree on how much volume had thus far been agreed on 2021 contracts for supply to Chile. Some sources said that the majority of contract tonnage had already been secured in the $50s/t CFR, with only marginal volumes pushed into the $60s/t, while one major supplier argued that they have not sold anything in the $50s/t CFR and all of their sales have been in the $60s/t CFR. Southern Copper awarded a tender last week to a trader for 80,000 t in the mid-$60s/t CFR Chile, sources said.
