Urea attention focused on post-MMTC prospects

Attention in the urea market this week was largely focused on offers, counters and awards as eventually ensued in the May 7 MMTC tender in India, but even more so on likely implications of the relatively limited volume booked for loading by June 15. Global buyers have been citing May 7 offers to MMTC at 2.39 Mt versus actual purchases of less than 27% of that availability in support of calls for more aggressive quotes. Suppliers have been quick to point out that netbacks available were such that selling interest in larger volumes was absent.
