Peru: Mining halted amid coronavirus lockdown

Phosphate rock mining is understood to have halted in Peru due to strict lockdowns of labour during the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. Mosaic said in a March 25 investor presentation that its Miski Mayo rock production facility in Peru has been impacted by the government’s Covid-19 response. The duration of the reported shutdown of rock production in Peru was unclear at the time of writing, but the countrywide lockdown is reportedly set to last 15 days.
