As the instigator of the campaign to get the government to mandate the use of wool for the recently announced E2bn home insulation grants scheme, and for it to be used in all publicly funded buildings, I was intrigued by the letter from Iain Whatley on the subject of moths (Letters, 4 September).Wool is already widely used for insulation and manufacturers have dealt with the moth question. One company I have spoken to successfully uses boric acid as a preventative measure. It says its products should last the lifetime of a building and guarantees them for SO years.
