In my last column, I analysed the potential of smart technology in windows and doors in line with market potential and discussed how blue-sky thinking is often the source of the most visionary innovations. This time, so nobody can accuse me of being an idealist, I'm going back to basics and taking an objective look at the fundamental requirements the industry needs to explore when choosing their smart partner. Ticking the boxes of these core areas will ensure the Smart Ready preparation standard is met. Working with certified suppliers to provide mass market products, Smart Ready is the benchmark for smart products that are consistent and offer credible benefits to end-users and is not just smart tech playing at being smart or tech for tech's sake.
