This year saw a wave of M&A activity, led by ongoing consolidation among oil service companies that are still pushing to keep a lid on costs despite tentative recent oil price gains. The oil services sector is still weathering the crude price rout of 2014 as the circa-USD 10/barrel improvement in the average price of Brent in 2017 is yet to trickle down to tier two players.
