FERC restates cumulative impacts from trio of LNG projects in southern Texas

US federal regulators have reiterated the potential for “significant” cumulative environmental impacts if all three LNG projects proposed near the port of Brownsville in Texas are built - suggesting the most prominent effects of constructing the Rio Grande, Texas and Annova LNG developments cannot be effectively mitigated. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) highlighted the potential problems of building and operating all three in its final environmental impact statement for the 6-mtpa Annova LNG scheme on Friday, days before a final EIS for Rio Grande is due to be published.
