India’s largest gas distributor GAIL has achieved a first for the nation after trucking LNG from the west of the country to the gas-starved east. The move is seen as building gas demand in the east ahead of the region being connected to India’s gas grid, with GAIL expected to complete laying a major pipeline in the east by year-end. The state-owned company today confirmed the move, which involved deploying specialised cryogenic bullet trucks to transport LNG ~1,888 km from the Dahej LNG terminal in Gujarat to Bhubaneshwar in the eastern state of Odisha.
