Japanese trio receive green light for LNG-to-power project in Myanmar SEZ

Japanese trio Marubeni, Sumitomo, Mitsui and local conglomerate Eden Group have received notice to proceed (NTP) from Myanmar's government to develop a 1.25 GW LNG-to-power project in the special economic zone (SEZ) of Thilawa - the first such zone in the country, backed by the governments of Myanmar and Japan. The approval comes a month after a separate Chinese joint venture launched Myanmar's first LNG-to-power project.
