Highlights ? We explored effective simulated annealing implementations for thinning scheduling. ? 32 implementations were adapted for four benchmark yield models. ? The implementations’ performance were evaluated with 625 different parameter sets. ? An energy function was devised to limit the range of temperature parameters. ? The best implementation for daily usage by foresters was identified.
