Mozambique LNG Takes Shape With Japanese Supply Deal

In a landmark deal, Mozambique LNG (MZLNG) has announced its first major agreement in Northeast Asia, the world's largest LNG market, and will supply Japan's Tohoku Electric Power with 280,000 tons of LNG over 15 years. Anadarko, which heads the MZLNG group, is due to make a final investment decision (FID) over the next six months on the 12 million ton per year project, which will be underpinned by such gas sales contracts. The US firm said in June that it was aiming to secure some 8 million tons/yr in offtake agreements for MZLNG and was eyeing buyers in Asia and Europe (IOD Jun.2'17).
