PGNIG LNG Import Growth Outpaces Russian Gas

Polish state-owned oil and gas company PGNIG said its LNG imports from Qatar, Norway and the US grew faster than its Russian piped imports in the first seven months of 2018, further proof that the country is moving away from its dependence on gas export monopoly Gazprom. PGNIG said its LNG imports rose 60% year-on-year, or by around 600 MMcm, in the January to July period, compared to Russian gas imports growing only 6% annually.
