Iran Exports Could Fall Below 2 Million b/d Quickly

Iran’s crude oil exports have remained buoyant in recent months but could quickly drop below 2 million barrels per day as buyers, led by European firms, are beginning to wind down their purchases ahead of renewed US sanctions on the country’s oil sector, a senior Iranian industry source said Monday. Iran exported above 2.6 million b/d of crude in April, the highest level since nuclear-related sanctions on the country were lifted in January 2016, and 2.4 million b/d last month, helped by domestic refinery maintenance that freed up additional barrels, the source said (IOD Jun.5’18).
