Lightsource BP Launches India ’Green’ Fund

In a sign of BP’s ambitions in India extending beyond gas production, solar energy firm Lightsource BP, in which the UK major holds a 43% stake, will jointly manage a fund that will invest in 'green' infrastructure in the country (IOD Dec.18’17). The 50-50 joint venture with Indian private-equity firm Everstone Group, named EverSource Capital, will target Indian power, distribution infrastructure and energy services, with a fundraising target of ￡500 million ($711 million), BP said. The UK government and India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) agreed this week to be joint anchor investors in the launch fund, with a commitment of ￡120 million each.
