The Netherlands will consider drastically reducing its natural gas output in light of a strong earthquake caused by Europe's largest onshore gas field, Dutch Economic Affairs and Climate Policy Minister Eric Wiebes told local media. Wiebes said he wants to accelerate the reduction of gas extraction at the Groningen natural gas field "by as much as possible" by the end of the coalition government's term in 2021. "Whatever it takes, we have to bring down gas production. The Netherlands has to stop using natural gas," he said.
