Gazprom Looks at Gas Sales to China via Mongolia

Russia’s Gazprom has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mongolia under which the two sides will explore the possibility of building a pipeline that would deliver Russian gas to China via Mongolia. Gazprom is keen to find ways to improve the economics of delivering gas to China. It recently started deliveries of gas to China via the 38 billion cubic meter per year Power of Siberia pipeline, but it has struggled in recent years to sign additional deals with the Asian economic giant (IOD Dec.3’19).
