PetroChina Buys LNG as Mercury Plummets

PetroChina took delivery of a Russian LNG cargo on Saturday at a Shanghai receiving terminal owned by China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) with the goal of meeting gas shortages caused by very cold weather in northern China. This is the first LNG cargo that PetroChina has imported since leasing the terminal from its Chinese rival; PetroChina itself does not yet have any receiving terminals (IOD Nov.26,p1).
