Statoil has launched a new biofuel, Bensin 95, that it says should cut carbon emissions by around 11,000 tons per year. From this month, 40% of the Norwegian firm's stations in southern and eastern Norway will sell the biofuel, which contains 5% bioethanol. Statoil said all gasoline-powered vehicles can use the fuel without modifying engines or fuel systems. In 2009, the company launched diesel containing 7% biodiesel throughout Norway, resulting in estimated annual emission cuts of around 66,000 tons of CO2.
