MG HS: Keen-value new crossover bids for pole in the space race

The MG HS is the successor to a car that its maker would rather we all forgot. Those who remember the short-lived GS will recall a mid-sized crossover SUV that looked odd, handled soggily and had an ill-mannered engine - while the HS, we are assured, represents significant leaps of progress in all of those areas. With an all-new model platform underneath it and a widely re-engineered 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet, the HS doesn't really stand out from the current SUV crowd, but it's certainly a much more visually appealing design than the GS was.
