LONDON(ICIS)--It's a conversation yet to be had,but one that will be critical to the future success,or otherwise,of petrochemical companies worldwide."We need a plan and a ramp for costs for the next 10 or 20 years,"BASF CEO Martin Brudermuller said on Monday.He was talking about how the feedstock slate for the industry might change over the coming years amid the low carbon drive for greater sustainability,and how costs will be applied and accounted for through the value chain,from the regulator through to the customer BASF expects that,in future,75% of the carbon it purchases will be used structurally in products.There is only so much you can do with chemistry,and thermodynamics dictates the ways in which energy can be used to transform one material into another.BASF's aim is to generate solutions through technology as carbon and energy costs rise.
