China may reduce target for nationwide use of ethanol gasoline in 2020

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China may reduce its target of a nationwide mandate of ethanol gasoline for 2020 by 50%, largely because of capacity shortage, industry sources said. Logistics and consumer resistance are factors holding back the progress towards the target. In 2017, the country announced a plan to mandate the use of E10 gasoline (containing 10% ethanol) across the country by January 2020 as part of its efforts in reducing car emissions, but this has yet to be achieved.
