GPPS market conditions in the GCC expected to tighten

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Tighter conditions are expected to characterise the market for general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) cargoes in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), where prices have surged recently amid tight supply conditions in Asia and strong gains made by feedstock styrene monomer (SM) prices. GPPS prices are now at their highest level since February with prices hitting $1,125/tonne CFR (cost & freight) GCC last week. With domestic demand continuing to improve and developments in other markets constraining supply, tight market conditions are expected to continue.
