The system was handling a 6m drop height from the sizer to the 1800mm wide belt and a lump size of 500mm plus. To reduce unplanned maintenance and stretch shutdown intervals by increasing belt, roller and frame life an engineered impact belt support system with dynamic characteristics was sought. Ideally the system would be handling a maximum lump size of 450mm. However, when the primary sizer it was sitting below lost a tooth - a common occurrence - the lump size was greater than 500mm.
