Gazprom resumes Turkmen gas imports…

Gazprom has resumed importing gas from Turkmenistan for resale in southern Europe after a three-year break. Export arm Gazprom Schweiz will buy up to 1.155bn m~3 of gas by 30 June under a short-term contract with state-owned Turkmengaz. Gas fows from Turk- menistan to Russia began on 15 April, along the Central Asia-Centre (CAC) pipe- line through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Gazprom has not revealed the price it will pay for the gas and it has not explained why it needs this fairly small quantity at a time when demand for its gas in Europe and Russia is down on the year.
